Silvina Batakis will be the new Minister of Economy of Argentina, following the resignation of Martín Guzmán.
The until now Interior Ministry official, headed the Finance portfolio in the province of Buenos Aires, between 2015 and 2019.
Batakis' appointment was confirmed by the Casa Rosada on Sunday, after a day of intense negotiations.
The agreement to appoint her was reached after a dialogue between President Alberto Fernández and his VP, Cristina Kirchner.
The two have differences regarding some aspects of economic management.
It was in this context that Guzmán, one of the ministers closest to the President, announced his resignation on Saturday.
He had been part of the government since Mr Fernández's inauguration in December 2019.
The economist stood out for leading the negotiation with the International Monetary Fund, which resulted in an agreement to settle a debt of 44 billion dollars.
